Fresh Chickens in Chongqing

I am only 3 days into properly and officially living in Chongqing so there isn't a whole lot to report on through the fog of jet lag still clouding my mind during the days. BUT, I will say, one thing I am considering to do very soon is pick a chicken (or a duck) at the local grocery store to have freshly butchered for us ....

The whole "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" wasn't far from the truth. Apples serve many functions, not the least of which is to increase body fluids according to Chinese medicine.

The End of Summer

I always drag out each season to the last possible minute, and then some. I was still stewing dinners, warm and slow, when June came around. Even though by then winter was long gone. And now, at the last possible minute as the fall is inching it's way in, I finally managed to put together a gazpacho. Last of the tomatoes, the peppers, and the cucumbers for 2009 (at least seasonally speaking).

Just a quickie before I am off to New York for a work training weekend... I picked up some lovely peaches at the farmers market yesterday.
