Kamwo Pharmacy : New York

on Fri, 08/07/2009 - 13:30

There is many a belated post to put on here from the last two weeks, with my trip to New York for a work seminar followed by a trip to Colombia for a wedding after that, I have fallen behind! First, I'll back track and share a few pictures from Kamwo Pharmacy in New York, where I did an externship in 2002 whilst getting my M.S. in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine. They have revamped their pharmacy and it is looking quite stylish indeed. This is one of the main pharmacies that I will often order prescriptions for my patients from as they deliver to all over the U.S. and abroad and have a very good standard in quality.

A picture of my colleagues as we are given a tour of the storage area of the pharmacy.

Shelves and shelves of the over 600+ different kinds of medicinal herbs.

Ban Bian Lan

One of my favorites, the bark of a tree - it's used in general for ailments related to the kidneys (which in TCM can include anything from a back ache to incontinence).

The place where the decoctions are individually brewed.

A shot of the upstairs portion of the pharmacy.

And with that I'll leave you, this weekend I hope to get to "Travelling Medicine: Colombia" ...
